Technologies we use
What We Build
From a 5-page business website to a full-stack mobile banking application. CloudSpinx designs and builds digital products that perform in East Africa's connectivity landscape.
Business & Corporate Websites
We build fast, SEO-optimized websites that convert visitors into leads. Every site is mobile-first, targets a sub-2-second load time and is built on a CMS your team can update without developer help.
- WordPress, Headless CMS or static site, recommended based on your update frequency and scale
- On-page SEO setup: structured data, meta tags, sitemaps and canonical URLs
- Google Analytics 4, Search Console and conversion tracking configured from launch
- Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and performance audit before handover
E-commerce Platforms
Online stores built for how Kenyans and East Africans actually pay, with local and international payment options, proper order management and VAT compliance.
- M-Pesa Express (STK Push), Airtel Money and card checkout
- WooCommerce, Shopify or fully custom-built depending on your scale
- Inventory sync with your ERP or POS system
- Automated VAT receipts, KRA ETR integration and invoice generation
- Order tracking, customer accounts and abandoned cart recovery
Mobile Applications
iOS and Android apps built with Flutter for a unified codebase, or React Native for teams with existing JavaScript skills. We handle design, development, QA, and App Store / Play Store submission.
- Flutter and React Native for cross-platform iOS & Android development
- Offline-capable architecture for low-connectivity environments
- Push notifications, biometric authentication and in-app payments
- M-Pesa, card and mobile money payment integration
- App Store and Google Play submission, review and post-launch monitoring
Custom Web Applications
Internal tools, customer portals, SaaS products and dashboards: built with modern frameworks, proper API architecture and deployed on infrastructure that scales.
- React / Next.js or Vue / Nuxt frontend with REST or GraphQL APIs
- Laravel or Node.js backends with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases
- Role-based access control, audit logging and multi-tenancy support
- Third-party integrations: ERPs, CRMs, payment gateways, SMS and email APIs
- CI/CD pipelines and staging environments for safe, predictable deployments
Built for East Africa
Every project is shaped by the realities of doing business in Kenya and the wider East African region.
- Low-bandwidth optimized - fast loading on 3G and variable mobile connections, critical when 70%+ of traffic is mobile
- M-Pesa & mobile-money native - STK Push, C2B, B2C and Airtel Money flows built in, not bolted on
- KRA & tax compliant - VAT receipts, ETR integration and invoice formats aligned with Kenya Revenue Authority requirements
- Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 - data handling, consent flows and privacy policies aligned with local law
- Swahili / English multilingual - i18n architecture for bilingual and regional-language rollouts
- East African payment landscape - M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Equity, card and bank transfer checkout in a single integration
What a build costs, and why nobody can quote it from an email
Anyone who quotes a figure for an app before understanding what it does is guessing, and the guess is either padded or about to become a change-request argument. What actually drives the number is the count of distinct screens and user roles, how many integrations there are and how well documented they are, whether you need one mobile app or two native ones, and how much of the design already exists. Payment and compliance integrations carry more work than they look: the happy path is quick, and the reconciliation, retries, timeouts and failure states are most of the engineering.
How we structure it
A short paid discovery produces a specification, wireframes and a fixed-scope quote, and it is yours whether or not you build with us. That is deliberate. Fixed-price contracts written from a two-paragraph brief protect nobody: we would have to pad against unknowns, and you would spend the project arguing about what was included. A written spec makes the price real and gives you something to take to another firm for comparison.
The part clients underestimate
Content and data. A site or system is usually ready weeks before the copy, product photography, and cleaned catalog data are, and that wait is invisible in every project plan. We ask for it early and will tell you honestly that it, rather than the engineering, is what sets your launch date.
Building for how Kenya actually connects
Most of your users are on Android over mobile data, on a device that is not new, and a proportion of them are paying for that data by the megabyte. A build that is only tested on a fast laptop over office fibre will feel fine to you and slow to them. So the page weight budget is real, images are compressed and sized for the device requesting them, the site works on a flaky connection rather than only on a good one, and the interface is designed thumb-first because that is how it will be held. The under-two-second target above is measured on a mid-range Android over mobile data, not on a desktop.
M-Pesa, and the part that goes wrong
Taking a payment is the easy half. STK Push prompts the phone, the customer enters a PIN, the money arrives. What separates a working integration from one your finance team fights every month is everything after that: the callback that never arrives because the endpoint timed out, the customer who pays twice, the transaction that succeeds at Safaricom and fails to record in your system, and the reconciliation at month end that has to prove those two ledgers agree. We build idempotent handlers, log every transaction on both sides, reconcile automatically and surface the exceptions to a human. Where the payments have to land in an accounting system, that connects through the ERP side rather than being re-keyed.
When you should not commission a build
Custom software is the most expensive way to solve a problem, and often the wrong one.
- If off-the-shelf covers eighty per cent, take the eighty per cent. A configured product you can leave beats a bespoke system only your developer understands, and the twenty per cent you are missing is rarely worth the difference.
- If you cannot describe who uses it and why, do discovery first and decide afterwards. Building to find out what you wanted is the most common way these projects fail.
- If it is a brochure site, you need a good template, real copy and decent photography, not a custom build. We will say so.
- If nobody will own it after launch, reconsider. Software needs updating, and an app abandoned for two years stops working when the platform moves under it. Budget for the life of it or do not start it.
What you own
The source code, in your repository, from the first commit rather than at final payment. The designs in editable form, the deployment configuration, the API documentation and the credentials for every third-party account, all in your name. App store listings are published under your developer accounts, not ours, which matters a great deal the day you want to change supplier and update your own app. We take no ongoing license on anything we write for you.
Tell us what you want built
Enough for us to say whether this needs a custom build at all, and to price a discovery if it does. If an off-the-shelf product covers it, that is what you will hear.
